This week Microsoft goes for the Japanese markets as Blue Dragon is released on Thursday. This RPG is especially targeted at the Japanese Xbox 360 gamers, and it utilizes the design of Dragon Ball creator Akira Toriyama. Developer of the Final Fantasy series, Hironobu Sakaguchi, has been overseeing the making of the game.
It is said that the first Xbox flopped in Japan due to lack of Japanese-style RPGs such as Final Fantasy and Dragon Quest. Now Microsoft intends to turn the tide with the help of Blue Dragon.
The story is a traditional one. It´s about a boy named Shu, who has the ability to summon a shadow that can turn into a blue dragon. Shu and his friends with similar abilities embark on a journey to save their world.
Blue Dragon is looking very promising since the highly regarded Japanese game magazine, Famitsu gave it an impressive 37/40 score.
