According to various reports, a more silent DVD drive for Xbox 360 has been spotted in the wild. The new drive is apparently made by BenQ Corporation and should appear in the newest console models (dated: Nov. 13th 2006).
The reports say, that the new drive is noticeably quieter and quicker in loading game content.
Now, you shouldn´t start maiming your console and wishing it to break, since there is supposedly still an ample supply of the older console versions in the retail channel. And as far as Murphy´s law goes, you´ll most likely get an old ”repaired” version back from Microsoft´s repair center.
