The word of the day is that Midway has decided not to release a European Xbox version of their upcoming Mortal Kombat title. In fact, Midway says the title was never confirmed for a European launch in the first place and that the decision was made by their European branch. The motives behind the decision remain unclear and so does whether or not the North American version of the game will be region free. Until these questions are answered, European gamers will have to settle Armageddon on the Playstation 2.
Mortal Kombat: Armageddon, seventh installment to the series, is due for Xbox and PS2 release in North America, and PS2-only release in Europe, come October. Midway has discussed plans to ship the game for the Nintendo Wii in 2007.
