Game developer and publisher Take-Two Interactive Software, Inc. announced results for the fiscal year 2006 ended October 31st. Company recorded net loss and lower revenue compared to the fiscal year 2005, which included significant sales of Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas.
Take-Two announced net revenue of $1 038 million (786 MEUR) compared to $1 201 million (909 MEUR) in fiscal year 2005. Result was impacted by costs relating to the transition to next-generation consoles and lower selling prices of current generation game titles. Take-Two also invested in the development of next-generation titles and its sports business. As a result company recorded net loss of $184,9 million (140 MEUR) for the fiscal year 2006 compared to net income of $35,3 million (27 MEUR) in 2005. Net loss was slashed by closing down three development studios.
During remainder of fiscal year 2007, Take-Two plans to publish Bioshock, The BIGS, The Darkness, Fantastic 4: Rise of the Silver Surfer, and also All Pro Football 2K8, NHL 2K8 and NBA 2K8 sports game titles. The year 2008 will see the arrival of new products based on the Civilization franchise. In the fiscal year 2006 Xbox 360 games formed a quarter of Take-Two´s revenues.
